Get Involved and Get Ready to Sprint!

Invitation to Contributing Authors

We invite you to take part as a contributing author in a nursing related digital textbook as part of the Nursing Open at Scale project, which is slated for a 2019 release by eCampusOntario.

Open at Scale is a targeted, discipline specific approach to open educational resource (OER) development.

These digital textbooks will be structured as edited volumes in the format of an OER. In developing these OER, a Sprint approach will be used and development will be undertaken from mid-May through June 2019.

Please visit the Invitation to Contributing Authors page for more information regarding the following 3 OER sprints:

  1. The Complete Subjective Health Assessment
  2. Immunizations
  3. Interpreting Canada’s Food Guide and Food Labelling for Health Professionals

Under Invitation to Contributing Authors, you will also find further instructions on how to get involved along with the eligibility and participation requirements.

Please do note hesitate to contact me if you have any questions, comment and/or concerns.

Did you Know?

Textbook costs have increased by 129% over the past 15 years (nearly 4 times inflation). Nursing students in the first two years of their collaborative Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) program will spend an estimated $6040 on books and supplies. The increasing burden of debt is mounting. It is more important than ever to support students with free, high-quality open resources.

The Open at Scale – Nursing OER project is always looking for collaborators and contributors! If you are a student, educator, nurse, instructional designer, health care employer, librarian or anyone else with an interest in OER in the health professions, we would love to hear from you.
